What is the optimal food for my dog?

Emily G asked:

So I know this question is asked often, but nothing that is fitting for my pup.

She is a two year old female English Bulldog.
A bit overweight but I have a feeling that is because of her current food (Royal Canin for Bulldog formula)
She has a VERY sensitive stomach and allergies to grass that causes a rash on the belly and loss of hair.
She vomits yellow “foam” when overheated and if she eats too quckly she vomits her food (this is why she is on RC, they have food that is “wavy” shaped for this problem)

I want to make sure she is getting the best for her and I want to know if anyone else has ideas!

Thank You!
ADD: She needs something that will cater to her sensitive stomach. Our vet instructed us that IAMS was a cheap brand with mostly by products. When we bought her she was on Eukanuba, which still wasn’t good for her stomach.

I would like to find a QUALITY dog food for her.

IAMS is a great brand to watch your dogs weight and for healthy muscle function it even has an index on how much to feed the dog by weight and age which is great! IAMS is a very healthy brand of dog food that dogs just eat up instantly!

my dog eats iams. if she’s eating the grass then that could be why shes throwing up, when my dog eats grass he throws up yellowish foam.

Try to stick to 5-6 stars if you can. If she’s overweight, you need to feed a little less, and add exercise.
If it’s from her eating too quickly, theres a special bowl you can get at most pet stores that has pegs that stick up and slow down how fast the dog eats.

Some good quality foods are :

    Canidae

    Wellness
    Wellness CORE

    Taste of the Wild

    Blue Buffalo

    Solid Gold

    Innova
    Eagle pack Holistic
Chicken Soup for the dog Lovers Soul
    Orijen
    EVO
    Merrick
    Avoderm
    Natural Balance
    Fromms
    Artemis
    Eagle Pack Holistic
    Pinnacle

Never get low quality foods like :

Cesar, Ol’ Roy, Purina, Pedigree, Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, BilJac, Nutro , Dad’s, Royal Canin, Mighty Dog
    Or ANY grocery Store brand!

This website should be able to help you on picking out a good quality food. Stick on the 4-5-6 star range.

Never get a dog food with Corn, Soy, and By-Products. But I would also suggest a wheat free dog food. When you change your dogs food to a better quality, you will notice these things :
Firmer Stool, Glossier Coat, and better overall health.

Just because it says “all natural” doesn’t mean that it’s good. ALWAYS check the dog food ingredients!

Corn – A low quality filler that is in a lot of dog foods, most dogs are allergic to it.

By Products – Anything from Roadkill to euthanized dogs to cow brains! It does *NOT* qualify for a meat source!

Raw Feeding is also good, but it can be pricey. Learn more at:
